Floyd takes the words of Jesus to encourage to launch out into the deep in St Luke 5.   With the urgency of a message of eminent attack, don’t let the Word of God languish.  He continues with admonition:  It is time to seek the Lord and to get busy in the work of the Lord!!  You won’t find anything better to catch men with than taking the same ol’ Word of God, the same ol’ net, the same ol’ Gospel Story, the same ol’ love of God.

“The Flesh Profiteth Nothing” by Bro. Paul Merritt at Camp Meeting 1951

Bro. Paul begins his sermon with a beautiful song that speaks to an important truth concerning being alone with Jesus.   

His sermon speaks to the heart of the human condition and continues to tell us that the “flesh profiteth nothing.”  The flesh will never save us from the issue of sin and an eternity in hell.  Yet we put so much emphasis on it.

Then he really shares the burden of his heart with his congregation about the future of Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church and leaves us with the hopeful scripture, “and the Lord added unto the church daily, such as should be saved.”  It’s a heartfelt message that certainly deserves our attention in 2021.
