“Absalom – Our Righteous God has no Pleasure in a Sinner’s Death” – Bro. Jeff Price – Camp Meeting 2012

In Camp Meeting 2012 Bro. Jeff Price shared “Absalom – Our Righteous God has no Pleasure in a Sinner’s Death”  He uses Absalom’s rebellion against his father, King David, (2 Samuel 15 to 19) as an allegory of our lost spiritual state.  Just as David loved Absalom and mourned his death, in spite of his uprising, God loves man, even in sin and rebellion, and desires our deliverance.  Though a just and righteous God must absolutely punish sin, rebellion and unrighteousness, He says “I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked… for why will ye die, O house of Israel?” (Ezekiel 33:11). The penalty for our sin and transgressions is provided in deliverance with Christ’s sacrifice to forgive sin and provide the earnest of His spirit in our hearts!!

At Camp Meeting, during the morning service on Sunday, August 1, 1982, Bro. Ben Jernigan delivered “Consider Your Ways”.  Bro. Ben begins the sermon with a stirring and compelling call to the lost utilizing the account of Belshazzar’s feast found in the 5th chapter of Daniel.  Bro. Ben finishes the sermon with New Testament passages, including the 8th chapter of Romans, to explain how salvation through Christ fully delivers a person from his or her sinful ways.

Tommy Bonner delivered this practical and powerful sermon, “How to Live Holy”, in the Columbia County church at Feast Meeting on Sunday, November 1, 1992.  Using passages from Galatians and Philippians, Bro. Tommy clearly explains how to live holy.  Emphasizing Galatians 5:25 which states, “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit”, Bro. Tommy gives instruction on how to yield to the Holy Spirit in all that we do and encounter in everyday life.

Please don’t miss a couple clips compiled from the archives of 1956, totaling about 17 minutes.  Bro. Rufus Curry provides a personal introduction of our “psalmist”, Bro. Paul Merritt, who goes on to introduce and sing “The Lord in Heaven is the Master”.  From the same tape, giving testimony that “He is the Master”, at the age of 80, Bro. John “Pop” Pointer helps with the alter call and prompts a spirit filled testimony from his grandson, Bro. Harry Collins, Jr. (31 years old at the time).  While the years may erode the memories of these fathers in our church organization, the Lord has no respect of persons; the same Spirit, faith, blessings, and power is available to each of us today!

On Sunday night of Camp Meeting 2003 Bro. Leon Stewart delivered “The Great Conflict”.  Though we are sometimes distracted with terrorism, politics and other things, the real world conflict is, and has always been, right against wrong.  Bro. Leon uses the Old Testament example of Israel to illustrate God’s perfect combination of mercy and judgement with His patience from Moses deliverance, through the days of Solomon, to their captivity prophesied in Jeremiah.
